Heat
by Jules

Nick hadn't been this hot in he couldn't remember how long. The weather had said that it would be hot outside, temperatures reaching a record high, but he hadn't paid much attention to it. He was from Florida and all so he was used to it. But now that he was on the court, playing ball and running like crazy, he was hot. Fucking hot. Stifling hot. Like sitting in an inferno or a volcano about to erupt hot. He looked around and saw that he was the only one in the court yard and smiled, grabbing the hem of his shirt and lifting it over his shoulders and head. When he's successfully removed the sweat soaked fabric, he ran it over his face, clearing it of the water that had gathered on his forehead, nose and upper lip. Usually he didn't play ball shirtless, at least not when he wasn't secure in the privacy of his own property. But right now he wasn't going to let his hang ups on his body shape bother him. He was fucking hot and the shirt was only pissing him off. He'd taken off the shorts as well if he could have. No. That would definitely not have been a good idea. He already had one indecent exposure incident on his record, didn't need another.

Once he'd thrown the shirt over to the bench, he picked the ball back up and began to dribble it, bouncing it through his legs expertly. Once he'd gained the momentum back, he rushed the hoop jumping to slam dunk it and cheering loudly when he succeeded. It didn't take Nick long to get lost in the heat from the blaring sun and the excitement of playing a game he absolutely loved, forgetting everything outside that small court.

Justin watched the tall lanky figure jump up for another 3 point shot, amazed at the grace with which he played. Nick Carter was by no means a small man, his frame reaching over 6 feet, his shoulders broad and arms muscular. But there was no way he didn't carry himself elegantly. He watched as the older man looked around, ensuring that no one else was there and gingerly remove his shirt, as if he was embarrassed by something. It was then that Justin's breath got caught in his throat, his stomach clenched tightly. Why Nick was embarrassed he had no idea, his body absolutely perfect, as if created by the hands of God himself. Looking down at his own thin frame he suddenly felt small, his body nowhere near that of Nick's. He almost felt guilty spying on the blonde, as if he was intruding on personal time that Nick was having. But as he watched Nick stretch for a lay up, his back arched protruding his bronzed chest and stomach, Justin couldn't help be thankful for his hiding spot behind the tree. It wasn't often he was able to sit and watch one of the most beautiful men he'd ever seen in his life, unashamed at the arousal that resulted.

He hadn't meant to spy. In fact, he was going down to do the exact same thing Nick was doing. Play basketball. But when he arrived and saw him already there, Justin took the opportunity to just watch him. Admire him. Lust after him. And there he had stayed for the past 20 minutes, wishing he had the balls to go over and say something to him.

Nick bent over, resting his forehead on his knees to catch his breath for a few minutes. Checking his watch he saw that it was nearly 4 o'clock. He'd been there for two hours and hadn't even realized the time pass by. That was one of the best things about basketball, how lost he could get in the game. How much he loved just playing and forgetting where and who he was supposed to be. As he walked towards his bag to get one of the bottles of water he'd brought with him, he saw someone out of the corner of his eye. Squinting against the sun he felt his pulse race at who was there, walking towards the court slowly. Justin Timberlake. He felt his stomach flip and his cheeks get hot. Well hotter than they already were. He was so focused on Justin's presence that he forgot he wasn't wearing a shirt.

"Hey Carter."Justin yelled, hoping that his voice didn't betray how nervous he was.

"Timberlake."Nick replied, wiping his forehead on his arm. "What's up?"

"Came down to play some ball. Want company?"Justin threw his bag down beside Nick's and pulled at his tee shirt, the sun too hot. In the shade it hadn't been bad, but now that he was in the direct sun, he understood why Nick had taken his shirt off. In this heat, it would be soaked in no time anyways, so no point in delaying the inevitable.

Nick felt his mouth go dry as Justin peeled his shirt off revealing his perfectly toned chest and stomach. It reminded him harsly how shirtless he was. How shirtless and not perfect he was. Looking at Justin's body, he then looked down at his own, seeing the vast differences. "Umm yeah. We can play one on one if you like."

At that, both men's minds drifted to the one on one they'd 'really' like to be playing with each other. Their gazes paused slightly on one another, both men breaking eye contact at the same time. Bouncing the ball to Justin, Nick smiled and began to walk backwards towards the net. "You got first."He said, shaking out the kinks in his neck and back before getting ready. He watched Justin prepare himself a little before getting into position.

And suddenly they found themselves in an intense game of one on one, neither holding back anything. They played hard, forgetting everything around them except for the sheer determination not to lose to the other. There had always been this underlying competition between the two of them, each pitted against the other in every way imaginable. Whenever they were doing something, they knew that whatever it was, it would be judged against what the other did. Whether they did it better, faster or more successfully. So as they played an intense game of basketball, that was continuously in the back of their minds.

It was about 40 minutes before Justin paused, wondering how Nick did it. They were both breathing heavily, sweating profusely but still determined to see the game through. It was now 18-19, Nick only needing 2 points to win and Justin wasn't sure that he had it in him to keep going. But there you had Nick, who had clearly been out there far longer than him looking like he still had another few hours left in him. "What's wrong junior? Pussying out on me?"Nick teased, taking a long drink from his water. He let some dribble from his mouth, the water falling down his chin to his chest where it joined the beads of sweat that had been playing on the bronze skin all afternoon.

Justin watched every movement the water made, resisting the urge to dart his tongue out and lick the water off, drop by drop. Blinking his eyes slowly, he raked them up Nick's body to his eyes, which were now watching him with interest. Blushing, Justin looked away and straightened up before grabbing his own water to drink.

"Nah. Just taking a breather Carter. I still haven't kicked your ass yet."Throwing his water onto his bag, Justin grabbed the ball and signaled that he was ready to start again, needing to end the game so he could go home and deal with the throbbing mass between his legs in the privacy of his own home.

Flashing Justin a smirk, Nick shrugged and got ready to start playing again, knowing that he only had 2 points before he beat the younger man. And he was going to beat him. That wasn't a question.

Nick faked Justin out, stealing the ball and pounding towards the half court to regain possession before the younger man even knew what happened. Taking a chance, he aimed and jumped going for a 3 point shot from center court smiling as it sailed through the hoop, not even touching the rim. As the ball hit the ground, bouncing aimlessly, he turned to see the look of frustration on Justin's flushed face. It was one of the cutest faces he'd ever seen, not that he'd openly admit that to him.

"Fuck."Justin muttered, seeing the elated expression on Nick's face. His face was pink from exertion and too much sun, his body glistening with sweat. He watched as Nick strode across the court to where he was still standing, not having moved since Nick stole the ball from him. Before he knew it, the blonde was directly in front of him, extending his hand in good sportsmanship.

"Good game Justin."

He thrust his hand out to shake it, unconsciously pulling Nick in for a half hug before they both pulled away

with a smile. He hoped to god that Nick hadn't noticed the wood he was sporting, his whole body alive not only from watching Nick play but from being pressed against him even if for a few seconds. "You too Nick."

Nick closed his eyes and prayed that Justin hadn't felt how hard he was. There they were, playing an innocent game of basketball and all he could think about was throwing Justin down on the bench and tasting his skin, licking the trail of sweat that kept teasing him as it slid down between the muscles of his 6 pack. "Good game Junior. It's been a while since I've had any real competition."

"Yeah. Well same here Nick. I mean the guys are okay, but I can't play my full game with them. There's no point."

They continued to talk, commenting on each other's games as they began to towel off and redress, noticing that the sun was going down slightly and the heat wasn't as bad.

"So."Justin said, feeling butterflies in his stomach. "What are you up to tonight?"

Nick smiled, averting his eyes to focus on putting his sweaty tee shirt in his bag. "Oh... you know."He felt a blush creep up over his cheeks. "I have a date."

Justin looked down, unsure what to say. "Oh. Okay. Well you know. Just making conversation."He grabbed his bag and put it over his shoulder, flashing Nick a small smile. "Well thanks for the game. It was fun."

"Yeah you too Timberlake. Maybe we can make it a regular thing or something. It's always good to play with someone who's got real skills."Nick said, lifting his bag to put over his shoulder as well.

They said an awkward goodbye and went in separate directions, each parking in different spots. The entire drive back to his beach side estate, Nick couldn't get his mind off of the younger man. How beautiful he looked out there in the sun. How hot he was covered in sweat, his muscles working overtime to play the face paced game. The animal attraction that he felt for him and that he knew Justin felt for him as well. He hadn't missed the appreciative glances the younger man had thrown his way, watching him when he thought Nick wasn't looking. At first he'd been self conscious, playing shirtless against Justin, but when he saw the reaction he had to it, Nick realized that for the first time in a long time, he felt comfortable. No one was judging him, indicating that he needed to lose weight to keep up appearances. And he appreciated that.

While Nick was driving home, his thoughts strictly on Justin, Justin was driving home, having similar thoughts about Nick. He hadn't expected to run into him at that court, but was glad that he had. It wasn't often that he went that far from home to play some ball, but recently a group of girls had found out where he went to play and started hanging out there, disrupting his game. At first it was flattering, but after a while he realized how annoying it was when all he wanted to do was play ball and unwind. Someone had told him about this court and suggested he try it out. There was only a handful of people that knew about those courts and it was almost always empty, providing him with the solitude he wanted. At first he'd been annoyed to see someone playing, but as he had gotten closer, when he recognized the individual playing the annoyance turned to excitement, Justin barely able to believe his luck. He had no idea why he had even asked Nick what his plans for the night were. He himself had somewhere he had to be for dinner, he just wanted to know what Nick was going to be up to that night.

Reaching his house, Justin drove into the driveway and cut the engine to his car. Stepping out he armed the alarm and went inside, checking the time. "Shit."He mumbled, realizing that he had less than an hour to get ready and leave if he wanted to make it to dinner on time. Rushing, he stepped into the shower and let the cool water soothe his overheated body, ridding him of the sweat and dirt that had accumulated during the afternoon. As he stepped out of the shower and got ready, Justin's mind moved from the game he'd played to his plans for the evening, a nervousness settling in that he hadn't expected. Time flew and suddenly he found himself straddling his motorbike, putting the helmet on and revving the engine. He drove the distance to a familiar house, buzzing the intercom to let the person inside know he was there. Once he heard the lock de-arm, he drove up the driveway, parking beside the green Explorer in front of the house.

"Hey."Justin said in a breathless tone as the door opened, smiling at the person before him. "Sorry I'm late."

"It's all good. I'm running late tonight too."

"You look good."Justin stepped into the air conditioned house, thankful for the break from the heat outside. It wasn't until he closed the door and turned to face the other person that he realized there was an entirely different type of heat inside. Their eyes met and slowly two sets of lips decended on one another. Justin raised his hands to run them through the still damp blonde hair, swallowing the low growl that resulted. "God. I've wanted to do that all day Carter."He whispered as they pulled away.

Nick looked deep into Justin's blue eyes and smiled. "Me too baby."He pulled the younger man in for another kiss, this one sweet and tender, cupping his lean face with his hand. "I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I saw you walking towards the courts. I thought you said you had stuff to do."

Justin blushed, leaning into Nick's touch. I didn't want to seem like I was crowding you. I'm always here or you're always at my place, and I thought you'd want time alone. So I thought I'd go and play some ball..."

"God Jus... If I want time alone I'll tell you. But don't think you're crowding me."Nick smiled at the look of embarrassment that crossed Justin's face. "I love spending time with you, being with you."

"I know. It's the same with me. I just don't want to smother you.... But damn baby. Seeing you on that court today..."

"How long were you there Jus?"When he saw Justin blush he softly kissed him, as if to tell him that it was okay. That he shouldn't be embarrassed.

"What do you mean?"Justin stiffened, pulling out of Nick's embrace slightly. He felt the resistance of Nick's arms, keeping him where he was.

"Well I looked over and you were just standing there. That was about 10 minutes before I called out to you. But I don't know when you got there. How long were you just standing there watching me?"

"About a half hour."Justin whispered, burying his face in Nick's crisp shirt. He inhaled and found his senses engulfed in Nick's scent, something that never failed to make Justin's knees go weak.

"You were there a half an hour? Just watching me?"

"Yeah."Justin admitted, laughing nervously. When he looked up he saw a look of shock on Nick's face.

"Why?"

Justin groaned. He wasn't sure how to answer this question. He and Nick had only been together a few weeks and were still getting completely comfortable around one another. The farthest they'd gone so far was kissing, and heavy petting, neither wanting to rush anything. And where he knew he was falling in love with the older man, he wasn't sure how Nick felt about him.

Nick could sense Justin's discomfort and stroked his cheek lovingly, raising his face so that they were looking at one another. "It's okay baby. Tell me."

"You're just so beautiful Nick. The way you move, how you are. Just everthing. And when I saw you, I couldn't help but stand and watch you. There's always someone else around and I don't get to just admire you. The real you when you think no one is watching."He paused to take a deep breath, happy when he saw the blush on Nick's cheeks. "I mean shit Nick. You're fucking amazing and sometimes I can't believe that this is all happening. That this is real."

Nick leaned in and kissed Justin thoroughly, letting his tongue enter his mouth. They kissed for a few minutes, still standing in the doorway not having moved.

"Wow. Thanks Jus. Coming from you that is the best compliment that anyone could give me."

"Huh?"

"Well you know how you just described me?"Justin nodded so Nick continued. "That's how I feel about you. You know that first night you stayed over? I didn't sleep at all. I just laid beside you and watched you sleep all night. Wondering how I got so lucky."

Both men stood silently, looking at the other amazed at the charged air of the room. Nick's air conditioner was on and working, but there was an unmistakable heat between them. Something that didn't go unnoticed by either of them.

"Are you hungry?"Nick asked, his eyes focused on Justin's lips.

"Sure."Justin said, nodding his head in contradiction. He was hungry, but there was a more urgent hunger that was overriding his need for food. The hunger to get Nick upstairs and do what he'd been craving all day. To lick and touch every inch of his strong, beautiful body. To take things to the next level. With Nick.

"Good. Me too."Nick breathed, kissing Justin again while leading him backwards through the front hall towards the stairs. "We've got an hour before the lasagna is done. I'm sure we'll have worked up a healthy appetite by then."

Justin's giggle echoed through the halls as they hastily removed their clothing, leaving a trail through the house until they finally reached Nick's bedroom. As both men entered, Justin looked around and saw that it looked exactly like it always did, but something was different. It could have been how he was looking at it, but it felt strange. Different. Home.

The last thing on both men's mind as the door closed and Nick led him to the bed where they were about to consummate their relationship was that the heat at the basketball courts earlier that day, couldn't hold a candle to that which was present in the bedroom at that moment.
