leg."
"Whatever are you talking about Joshua." They always seemed to use full names when trying to be witty.
Chris cocked his eyebrow to punctuate his point.
"The fact that you're singing Nicky instead of Mickey."
"I didn't realize it was something to be alarmed about. That OEdiscussions' were being had behind closed
doors about it." Chris even did the quotations in the air, giving JC an annoyed grin.
"No OEdiscussions' have been had. Justin brought it up and Joey and Lance said that it was weird. End of
story." JC did his own air quotations and Chris rolled his eyes.
"I can't change the words without it being a big deal?"
"But ...why? What's so fucking big about that song?" JC took his place at the switchboard and started the
machines, half listening.
"It's just ...you wouldn't understand." The tone in Chris' voice indicated that the discussion was over and JC
simply shrugged his shoulders in response.
"Whatever bro."

They realized that it wasn't every day that Chris would sing his rendition of Mickey. He wouldn't offer
explanations of what it meant, but just that he preferred his version to the original. One day they were all
hanging out at dinner when JC suggested that they all go out together. As a group. It had been forever since
they'd gone clubbing together and it would be fun to just get out and relax. They watched Chris' expression
closely, seeing only a hint of uncertainty before he broke out into a full grin.
"That would fucking rock guys. Great idea. Where?"
Plans were made and they'd decided that they'd meet up at a friend of JC's club. Directions were given and
they were to meet in the VIP lounge after 11.
Chris found that he was the last to show up, Joey arriving only fifteen minutes earlier. They settled at a table
and drinks were ordered, the guys having a chance to relax and just hang out. Justin noticed that Chris had
been watching the door every so often, whispering it quietly to Lance who indicated that he too had noticed.
It seemed as though the older man was apprehensive about something, although he was doing a fantastic
job of covering it up.
Eventually they'd made it to the dance floor, Justin, Chris and JC each deciding that it was time to start
working off the alcohol they'd been drinking. As Justin turned to say something to the girl he was dancing
with, he saw a familiar blonde standing by the bar. It was as if they'd all noticed him at the same time because
as Justin's eyes moved from Nick Carter, they landed on Chris who seemed to be blushing, a shy smile on his
face. Justin felt someone behind him and gave a quick look over his shoulder, eyes meeting JC's who was
giving him a perplexed look.
About an hour passed and JC and Justin watched Chris and Nick give each other eyes. Chris continued to
dance, but always seemed to have Nick in his line of sight. The same could be said for Nick, although they
weren't sure if they were reading too much into things or not. "Lets go get a drink," Chris yelled over the
music, waiting for Justin and JC to nod and follow. They made small talk while they waited, Chris watching Nick
with silent fascination. Justin was about to mention something about it when the blonde in question
approached, a coy smile decorating his lips. He nodded at JC first and then Justin, the two men sharing a
handshake and a half hug as they exchanged pleasantries.
Neither JC nor Justin could hide the shock that covered their faces at Nick's next move. He smoothly slid next
to Chris and leaned down, whispering something into his ear. Whatever it was clearly made the hair on Chris'
neck stand up and his hand tremble. Chris pulled away and cocked his head to the side, giving Nick a smile
that they hadn't seen before. His eyes seemed to dance and he mouthed OEokay', nodding his head. They
headed to the dance floor and began dancing, bodies close but not too close.
"What the fuck was that?" Lance asked, breaking into their thoughts. Joey wasn't far behind.
"I know, I mean ...damn. Carter?"
Justin and JC only shook their head, the four men watching, captivated. The two men danced for a total of
two songs before Nick leaned down to whisper something in Chris' ear for the second time that night. The
lights in the club were dim, but they were certain that they saw a hint of Nick's tongue on Chris' earlobe, his
